Privacy Policy

Effective: 12 August 2026

This policy explains how Zippi, operated through Combatix, collects and uses personal information when passengers, drivers and administrators use the Zippi secure e-hailing platform in South Africa.

1. Information we collect

2. Why we process information

We process information to register and verify accounts, approve drivers, calculate routes and fares, match passengers with nearby approved drivers, provide live tracking and safety functions, process payments and refunds, prevent abuse, resolve complaints and comply with legal obligations. Where required, processing is based on consent, performance of the requested service, legitimate operational or safety needs, or a legal duty.

3. Location information

Location access is requested for e-hailing functions. Passengers use it for pickup and trip tracking; approved drivers use it to go online, receive nearby requests and share their position during a ride. Drivers are taken offline when they sign out. You can withdraw device permission, but location-dependent functions will then stop working.

4. Sharing

Ride participants receive only the information needed for a journey. Administrators may access operational and driver-approval records. Information may also be processed by hosting, email, mapping, routing, payment and support providers acting for Zippi. We may disclose information where required by law, to protect safety, or to investigate fraud or misuse. Zippi does not sell personal information.

5. Storage and security

Zippi uses access controls, authenticated sessions, restricted document storage and encryption for configured payment-gateway secrets. Information is retained only for as long as reasonably needed for rides, safety, disputes, accounting and legal requirements, after which it is deleted or de-identified where practicable. No internet service can guarantee absolute security.

6. Your rights

Subject to the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA), you may ask whether we hold your information, request access or correction, object to certain processing, withdraw consent where consent is the basis, or request deletion where retention is not legally required. We may request proof of identity before acting.

7. Children

Zippi accounts are not intended for children who cannot lawfully consent to the processing of their information. A minor should use the service only with appropriate parent or guardian involvement and as permitted by law.

8. Cookies and device storage

The web app uses local and session storage for authentication, notification state and optional rating prompts. It does not use these mechanisms to sell advertising profiles.

9. Contact and complaints

Send privacy requests to zippi@combatix.world. If a concern is not resolved, you may complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa).

10. Changes

Material changes will be posted on this page with a revised effective date. Changes do not remove rights provided by applicable law.
